When it comes to teddy bears, dolls, and other soft toys, they are so much more than simply things to play with as a child. Especially when kept in good condition, these items can be very valuable, and with time are increasingly sought after as collectable products equal to any other antique item.
Steeped in nostalgia, teddy bears, dolls, and soft toys are great talking pieces to display and reminiscence about the past, or pass on stories to younger generations. A great example of this are the original TY Beanie Babies, which we currently have available as ‘Jake’ the Mallard duck from 1997, and an extremely rare Indonesian ‘Princess’ teddy bear signed by Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler. This moment occurred in the late 1990s at Grosvenor House Hotel commemorating the late princess at The Princess Diana Memorial Fund.
In addition to these items, we also have an antique continental 26” papier mâché doll, estimated as dating back to the mid-to-late 19th century. It features a soft body, with a hand-painted head, and real hair pleated with a bow. Its origin is probably French or German, and it is kept in good condition with only minor chips and tears.
