Early Vintage BOVANO enamel Pin Dish
Produced by the Cheshire CT firm of Bovano*, this 9cm wide small dish is a treat to the eye. Lovely Blues and greens adorn the facia built on a copper base enamelled over. Bears the sticker from Bovano on the base. My feeling is that this is an early Bovano piece. It is in excellent condition. Add it to your Bovano enamel collection today
*Since 1952, on the site of an old foundry, a team of highly skilled Bovano artisans have used traditional tools and techniques to create fine glass on metal sculptures.
The process includes vitreous enamel (pulverized glass) which is applied by hand, using a delicate sprinkling method, layer upon layer, over solid copper. Fired by the intense heat of kilns, enamels flow and combine, emerging from the kiln a molten ruby-red colour, then cooling to reveal both vibrant and subtle hues. This process may be repeated several times until the desired effect is achieved.
